Responsible and Sustainable Tourism
Global economists forecast continuing international tourism growth, ranging between 3 and 6 percent annually. As one of the world's largest and fastest growing industries, this continuous growth will place great stress on remaining biologically diverse and unique habitats (like Puerto Rico) and local cultures, which are often used to support mass tourism.
Tour Industry key players who promote sustainable tourism are sensitive to these dangers and seek to protect tourist destinations, and to protect tourism as an industry. We are looking for a balance. We as tour operators are endorsing and following responsible tourism as a pathway towards sustainable tourism. We are working hard every day to stimulate the creation of better places for people to live in and to visit.
We focus on
Environmental Integrity, Social Justice and Economic Development
We take responsibility for our actions and the impacts of our actions. We accept with pride and love our social and environmental responsibility. We are working hard every day to stimulate the creation of better places for people to live in and to visit. We follow these simple rules:
We minimise negative economic, environmental, and social impacts
We generate greater economic benefits for local people and enhance the well-being of our community, improving working conditions and access to the industry
We make positive contributions to the conservation of natural, historical and cultural heritage
We provide more enjoyable experiences for tourists through more meaningful connections with us, and a greater understanding of local cultural, social and environmental issues
We try to provide access for physically challenged people
We are culturally sensitive, engender respect between tourists and us, and build local pride and confidence.
By approaching sustainability principles, we maximize the experiences of both local residents and visitors. We paid fair for the services we receive and we try to minimize our footprints while we move on, both sailing and in our office.
Green in Principle, Green in Practice
Our green policies help to conserve resources including energy, paper and water - while minimizing release of CO2. We only use energy efficient equipment and LED's lights in our sailboat and rely on our website to save paper, replace media and slash shipping. Our operations have been guided by eco-friendly principles since our founding in 2012.
Highlights include our commitment to reducing waste at all levels. Our paperless office policies have saved tonnes of reams of paper. That's why we like much better to share our information online, than sending brochures to you. Actually we do not print brochures!
To see the difference that our policy can make to our planet, take a look at the information below. Great Green Reasons to get the information for our tours online:
Sending one email is energy equivalent to burning 3lbs of coal.
17 Reams of paper equals one tree. Electronic data transfers help prevent deforestation.
The pulp and paper industry is the single largest consumer of water used in industrial activities. Every ream of paper saved conserves over 100 gallons of water.
Paper equals CO2. Creating paper is the third biggest cause of industrial greenhouse gas emission, after the chemical and steel industries.
CDs and DVDs equal CO2. Lots of it! Three pounds of CO2 are released for every CD and DVD manufactured.
CDs and DVDs do not biodegrade. More than billion CDs and DVDs are expected to end up in landfills in the next five years.
Every time you ship, the environment pays! Shipping one package 200 miles releases 130lbs of CO2 into the atmosphere.
We invite you to accept with pride and love, your Social, Economical and Environmental Responsibility, as we do!
